Eilex PRISM and VIR Filter on Sharp AQUOS 8K TV

Sharp AQUOS 8K TV with Eilex PRISM and VIR Filter

SHARP announced their new AQUOS X500 series 8K TV. The incredible detail of this monitor, with “about 33 million pixels (7,680 × 4,320 pixels)” — or four times the visual information of the 4K specification — required an equally impressive audio experience. For sound performance worthy of the beautiful and stunning 8K display, SHARP turned to Eilex PRISM® and VIR Filter®. Selected models are to be sold in Japan, China, Taiwan and Europe.

Variable-resolution Impulse Response (VIR) Filter is a modern audio filter which outperforms FIR and IIR filters in every aspect: it provides superior control over a system’s sound while requiring less computing power. A detailed explanation of how VIR Filter works can be found on the VIR Filter page.

Eilex PRISM (Primary Sound Measurement) is an equalization technology which uses VIR Filter. Unlike traditional audio equalizers, PRISM corrects the Acoustic Power Volume Density (APVD) of a system. APVD is a measurement of how sound energy is distributed throughout the frontal space of the speaker. It maps the strength of a wide range of frequencies at hundreds of points in front of the system. Based on this repeatable and objective measurement, PRISM corrects the sound output of the system to ideal levels. More information is available on the Eilex PRISM page.

Eilex Remastered Album among Top Ranked Music in e-Onkyo Store

Naxos’ Hi-Res classical album “The First Selection” has been ranked as one of the top downloaded albums in the e-Onkyo music store for the first half of 2017. Ranked at number one for the most downloads in the classical music category, and number three in the store overall. This album’s popularity has been extended by Eilex’ HD Remaster process.

The album was originally recorded at 96 KHz (24-bit). Thanks to Eilex HD Remaster, “The First Selection” is now enjoyed at 192 KHz (available in both 24- and 32-bit).

Eilex HD Remaster is, of course, much more than just upsampling. Upsampling provides canvas space for increased detail in sound, but an intelligent and thoughtful process is required in order to fill in this area. Based on knowledge about how sound behaves in the real world, Eilex HD Remaster creates meaningful data which bears relation to the recorded audio signal.

Eilex’ remastered material has more than just the polished texture we have come to expect from HD audio. In “The First Selection” it can be clearly heard how Eilex HD Remaster improves the expression and nuance of each instrument, as well as the acoustic characteristics of the venue. Yet at no point is the result too harsh or exaggerated; the remastered sound is very natural.

Sharp 4K TV to use Eilex PRISM

SHARP LC-55U45 TV

Sharp Corporation have announced their new AQUOS U45 4K TV line for the Japanese domestic market, featuring Eilex’ two main technologies: (1) Eilex PRISM® equalization which uses (2) the VIR Filter® filtering technology.

These two key Eilex audio technologies provide the foundation of natural, realistic sound for movies, music, and video games. Eilex PRISM stands at the cutting edge in audio equalization technology, with the most sophisticated measurement method in the world. Eilex PRISM utilizes data from the entire frontal space of the TV to reproduce the sound of your favorite film or album to what the artists intended.

Eilex PRISM uniquely relies not on FIR or IIR filtering, but on a Variable-resolution Impulse Response filter: a VIR Filter. VIR filtering goes far beyond the capabilities of FIR or IIR filtering in terms of effectiveness with a given amount of computing power. No other audio filter comes close to what VIR Filter’s computing efficiency. The precision fine-tuning that VIR Filter provides has allowed SHARP’s engineers to create the best possible sound experience for the end user.

Visual information is only half the experience of a movie or video game — the sound is equally important. Advances in audio technology must provide high-quality sound to match the ever-improving picture. Eilex PRISM and VIR Filter are the basis of a perfect audio experience.

The AQUOS U45 line comes in 40”, 50” and 55” models.

FiiL Employs Eilex MaxWide and VIR Filter Technologies on its Bluetooth Headphones

FiiL released new DIVA Bluetooth headphones on August 9th. DIVA employed Eilex’ headphone technology MaxWide and audio-specific VIR Filter.

Eilex MaxWide provides theater-like sound experience to the users with headphones.

VIR Filter is specifically designed for audio applications. It delivers high resolution and sound quality while reducing the MIPS size. VIR Filter contributes for longer battery life.

Sharp Side-bar System

Sharp Corporation released a Side-bar Theater System “HT-SP1000” on December 3, 2015. They system employs Eilex PRISM® (Acoustic Power volume Density measurement and equalization), VIR Filter® (Variable-resolution Impulse Response filter), Eilex Harmony™ (restores digitally compressed lossy audio) and Eilex HD Remaster™ (Hi-Res audio converter) technologies.

Eilex International, LLC developed world’s first acoustic power volume density measurement and equalization technology, Eilex PRISM.

Eilex PRISM uses proprietary VIR Filter to realize the equalizer. VIR Filter boasts high resolution and high efficiency. It outperforms conventional FIR and IIR filters in every aspect, running at exceptionally small MIPS.

Eilex HD Remaster generates multiple even-order harmonics from the up-sampled audio sources extending the higher frequency response. It requires only a small MIPS and works in real-time.

Eilex Harmony effectively generates both even and odd-order harmonics to compensate the lost harmonics in the lossy-compression digital audio sources.

Sharp’s Hi-Res speaker system HT-SP100 employs the above technologies to improve its audio performance.
